Local News : Poom to Dan Conversion

Active 1st poom holders should convert their grade to 1st dan on reaching the age of 15. Otherwise, they will be at a disadvantage as they will not be allowed to take their 2nd dan until one year after the conversion. Furthermore, they may face difficulty when they serve their national service as the SAF only recognizes dan certification.

Please be reminded that Poom to Dan is automatic only if they continue training till they reach 15 years old. If they stop training after obtaining their grade, they will have to re-join the club and train for at least 6 months to qualify for conversion.

The 6 month training requirement is for the coaches to assess the suitability of their poom belt holders for the conversion. If the coaches are not satisfied, they have the right to prescribe a longer training period for their trainees before recommending the conversion.

The conversion fee are $30 (1st Poom to 1st Dan), $50 (2nd Poom to 2nd Dan) and $80 (3rd Poom to 3rd Dan) with effect from 1 April 2011.

Training fee and miscellaneous payment

Training Fee

Training fee will be breakdown to monthly basis. From now, our treasurer Miao Qiao will collect $20 from every trainees for a month's training fee in every month. There is a increase as compared with $35 for 3 months and now will be $60. To avoid discrepancy and the flow, Miao Qiao will start collecting the $20 for April (first payment) on this last week of March.

Grading Fee

Grading fee will be the same and w0uld be collected before every grading.

On Payment

It will be convenient if we could pay our treasurer the exact amount. As there is always insufficient small notes or loose coins. She seek for everyone's cooperation :)

4th March - Friday Training (Grading Fee, Club Tee and Jacket)

This Friday training, Miao Qiao is collecting the $25 grading fee for April's grading. She would also collect the $17 for Club Polo T-Shirt. Club Polo T-Shirt was decided and base with highest votes in Facebook. The majority have voted for QD2402 Black/Red and agreed with the design on 25th March training. For Reference->

Additionally I will collect the $30 for our Club Jacket. There is only 1 design for the jacket and is selected by Brian Sir which is a very comfortable jacket. You can take a look at the design on 4th March training as there is no photo of it. Do bring down the money also!

Hi NYPTKD! The Singapore Association for the Deaf (SAD) is organising a fundraising for the Deaf! They are short of volunteers for this year's Flag Day. I hope that NYPTKD can help them to raise more funds! We can do no great things, only small things with great LOVE. Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something. So come on, let's spread the happiness together shall we! If I have missed out anyone, do help me to invite them! Thanks! Do feel free to ask your friends along!

If you are interested, please reply if you will be attending this event latest by 4th of March 2011(this coming Friday) and I will email you the registration form to fill up your particulars. Please reply asap as I have to submit all your particulars to the person-in-charge latest by next week. Thank you! :) Do take note that you can choose your own timing to volunteer between 9.30am to 6pm.
Below are the details of the Flag Day:

Fundraising Target:
In line with the National Council of Social Service's (NCSS) guideline that we should maintain an average gross proceed of at least $50,000 (total amount collected from Street Collection on the Flag Day only) over three years, our target is to raise $82,000 through recruiting 3,000 volunteers for this Flag Day.

Why is SADeaf raising funds?
Established in 1955, SADeaf has been serving the Deaf Community for the past 55 years. In
line with our mission to assist the Deaf achieve a better quality of life, integrate and contribute
to society, we have been providing a range of services to the 5,600 clients we have. These services include:

• Education;
• Tuition;
• Discount for purchase of hearing aids and assistive devices;
• Guidance and counselling;
• Interpretation;
• Social care;
• Financial assistance to the needy; and
• Job support.

The purpose of raising funds is to support our annual operating expenses of about $2.2 million
and to reach out and serve those in need in the Deaf Community.

You can reach Jessica at 9670-3950 or through Facebook private message to update her your e-mail and details. This will be an outside event and voluntary so we will not get any cca point or benefits. But that is not the point! with just small efforts, we can help people who are suffering from hearing impaired to get better assistance in their life. Hence, do not hesitate any longer to help them!

Henry Ang

For eg, when we do charity work, we will help others, enjoy ourselves and at the same time benefit the school. It will be a lifetime experience for everyone so he hopes that we will step out and say Yes! for any event that needs us to be a part of it.
